The Professional Women’s Hockey League completed its awards distribution for the 2025 season at an awards ceremony in Ottawa, Ontario, with eight IHLC holders representing Canada and the United States taking home trophies following the league’s sophomore season.
The big winner of the afternoon was MontrΓ©al Victoire captain Marie-Philip Poulin, whose tremendous 2024-25 season leading the Victoire to first place in the PWHL resulted in her winning three trophies – honours for leading the league in goals, and awards as Forward Of The Year and the Billie Jean King Award as League MVP. These awards come on the heels of the legendary Canadian forward known as “Captain Clutch” being named the IIHF Female Player of the Year just one week ago.
The other multi-award winner was New York’s Sarah Fillier, who took home both Rookie of the Year and Points honours, the latter which she shared with Hilary Knight of Boston. The Victoire also saw awards go to Ann-RenΓ©e Desbiens (Goaltender of the Year), Kori Cheverie (Coach of the Year) and Laura Stacey (Community Leadership Award), with Toronto’s Renata Fast rounding out the winners as Defender of the Year. Gwyneth Philips, who backstopped Ottawa to a Cinderella Walter Cup finals run, won the Ilana Kloss Award as Playoff MVP back on 26 May, in a losing effort to the Minnesota Frost.
