Triple Gold Club

With the slowly increasing stream of European players entering the National Hockey League in the 1970s and 1980s, allowing decorated international players the chance to compete for the Stanley Cup, the first members of the prestigious Triple Gold Club were crowned in 1994.

With the introduction of NHL players to the Winter Olympics in 1998, combined with the fall of the Iron Curtain and an open flow of players across the globe to the league, meant that opportunities were endless for players of all nationalities to enter the Club, capturing the Stanley Cup, as well as Gold Medals at both the Winter Olympics and World Championships.

As for the women, while their Triple Gold is not recognized yet by the IIHF, the introduction of the premier women’s club championship, the Clarkson Cup, in 2009 allowed for women to now compete for their own trifecta: Olympic Gold, World Championship Gold, and the CWHL’s Clarkson Cup.

The 28 men and 18 women who make up the exclusive Triple Gold Club of international hockey are highlighted below. Any winners of additional international titles (namely the Canada/World Cup for men or the Three/Four Nations Cup for women) are also denoted.
