🇷🇺 Russia 3-2 Finland 🇫🇮 (SO)
Beijer Hockey Games
Arena 2000, Yaroslavl 🇷🇺
Thursday, 07 February 2019
In Yaroslavl, the senior Russian national team defeated Finland for the third time in the 2018/2019 Euro Hockey Tour, clinching a dramatic 3-2 victory on penalty shots.
However, it was the Finns who made the best start, as Niko Ojamäki struck gold inside the first minutes.
Nevertheless, Russia soon got on level terms, with Ilya Mikheyev completing a flowing play on the crease to send the Yaroslavl fans wild.
After a goalless second period, Ilya Mikheyev repeated the trick to give the Russians the lead, going five hole on the opposing goalkeeper from the left faceoff circle. It seemed our players would win, but with a mere eight seconds remaining on the clock, Mikko Lehtonen sent the game to overtime.
In the end, the match went to penalty shots, where Dmitri Kagarlitski scored the winner to seal a thrilling 3-2 triumph!
Russia will now travel to Sweden to play the hosts and the Czech Republic.
