๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช 2023 IIHF Congress Names Germany As 2027 World Championship Hosts


The 2023 IIHF Congress today in Tampere, Finland announced the hosts of the 2027 World Championship, with the German cities of Dรผsseldorf and Mannheim awarded hosting duties for 14-30 May 2027, winning a vote over Kazakhstan.

The PSD Bank Dome in Dรผsseldorf will host the semifinals and medal games, with SAP Arena in Mannheim serving as the secondary host. This will mark Germany’s ninth time as hosts, and first since Cologne co-hosted with Paris, France in 2017. Dรผsseldorf will host for the third time (after 1975 and 1983), while Mannheim will host for the second time, after 2010, the last time Germany was sole host, splitting duties between Mannheim, Cologne and Gelsenkirchen.

The IIHF Congress also announced the 2025 Women’s World Championships will be hosted by Czechia, and the 2025 World Junior Championships will be hosted by Canada; that Italy will gain automatic Olympic qualification for their men’s and women’s teams when it hosts the 2026 Games in Milan; and hosts for lower Divisions across all competitions in 2024.
