By virtue of the United States‘ thrilling overtime victory over Canada to capture Olympic Gold in Milan, three forwards on Team USA have now joined the Triple Gold Club, as Taylor Heise, Britta Curl and Grace Zumwinkle all added Olympic Gold to their existing World Championship Gold and Walter Cup titles.
The trio entered the Games as the only eligible players who could join the Club, as there are currently no Canadians with both a World Championship Gold and Walter Cup title pending an Olympic title; the only Canadian to have won those joined the Triple Gold Club last spring, Claire Thompson.
Heise, 25, made her senior World Champion debut in 2022, winning Silver, the same year she won NCAA MVP honours. 2023 followed with World Championship Gold, followed then by a second Worlds Silver in 2024 (where she was also tournament MVP), and a second Gold in 2025. The first overall pick at the 2023 PWHL Draft, the first draft in league history, she helped PWHL Minnesota to the inaugural Walter Cup in 2024, winning Playoff MVP honours. She would repeat as champion in 2025, now with the rebranded Minnesota Frost.
Curl, 25, a three-time NCAA Champion (2019, 2021, 2023) at Wisconsin, debuted for Team USA at the 2021 World Championships, winning Silver. She would follow this up with two Gold (2023, 2025) and one Silver (2024) medal at the Worlds, along with winning the Walter Cup with the Frost in her rookie PWHL season in 2024-25, after being drafted ninth overall by Minnesota in 2024.
Zumwinkle, 26, debuted for Team USA at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, winning Silver, followed by a World Championship Silver. The 13th overall pick of PWHL Minnesota in the 2023 Draft, Zumwinkle would be part of the PWHL Minnesota 2024 Walter Cup win, also winning PWHL Rookie Of The Year, returning to Team USA after three years on their 2025 World Championship Gold-winning squad, also repeating as Walter Cup champion a month later.
This trio becomes the seventh, eighth and ninth women to join the Club since the Walter Cup debuted in 2024, with all but one (the aforementioned Thompson) coming from the United States. They join teammates Kendall Coyne and Kelly Pannek as the only forwards to join the ever-growing club.
Our congratulations go out to these three women on their achievement in joining this prestigious club of international hockey stars!
