Saturday, February 9, 2013

Finland wrenched the International Hockey Lineal Championship from Czechia two days after the Czechs themselves won the IHLC, in a dominating 3-0 win at the 2013 Oddset Hockey Games in Malmö. Ville Lajunen, Juuso Hietanen and Velli-Matti Savinainen scored for the Leijonat, and Juha Metsola stopped 30 shots en route to the victory.

The win marks Finland’s 44th International Hockey Lineal Championship reign, and their first reign since the 2012 Channel One Cup, where they won from the Czechs 3-2 on December 13, in the last IHLC meeting between these two teams. Finland will close out the Games with the IHLC on the line against host nation Sweden.
