Megan Bozek, Monique Lamoureux and Kendall Coyne scored and Jessie Vetter stopped all 31 shots she faced to help the U.S. Women’s National Team defeat Canada, 3-0, here today at the 2015 Four Nations Cup.

With the victory, the U.S. improved to 2-0 in the tournament.

“We put in a strong effort right from the opening faceoff to earn a hard-fought victory against a good team,” said Ken Klee, head coach of the 2015 U.S. Women’s National Team. “We played with confidence and maintained our level of play throughout the game. We’ll look to keep the momenum going against Finland on Saturday.”

After a scoreless first period, Lamoureux made it 1-0 at 7:42 of the second period. Lamoureux took a pass in the high slot from Amanda Pelkey and deked Canadian goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer before putting a shot into a partially empty net.

On the power play, Bozek extended the lead to 2-0 at 15:01 of the stanza on a precision passing play. Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson began the play with a pass from the point to Kelli Stack at the left post, where she threaded a cross-crease pass to Bozek who cut in from the point and beat the goalie.

Coyne added an empty net goal at 19:28 to account for the 3-0 final.

Team USA is back in action on Saturday (November 7) against Finland.
