After sweeping both games in Ufa earlier this week, Canada put the cap on a perfect Russian leg of the tour on Saturday morning, scoring a 4-2 win to take both games in Omsk as well and give them a commanding 4-0 lead in the series heading back to Canada.

The scene shifted to Omsk on Friday morning, and although Russia played undoubtedly their best game of the series it was another Canadian victory, this time 6-2, giving Canada a 3-0 lead in the eight-game series.

The Canada / Russia Super Series was created to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series, the eight-game series that started the Canada-Russia hockey rivalry that still exists today.

In preparation for the 2007 version, Team Canada players watched a documentary of the series, including Game 1 in Montréal, where the over-confident Canadians jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, only to see the Soviet Union storm back to win 7-3.
