Canada saved its best for last at the Women’s World Hockey Championship.

The Canadian women played their most complete game of the tournament to take the Gold medal with a 5-1 win over the U.S. in Tuesday’s final, although the victory wasn’t without controversy on their second goal of the game.

The opening game of the Playoff Round at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre on Saturday was a true see-saw struggle. To the delight of the sell-out crowd, a pink-clad Canadian squad rallied from a 4-2 second-period deficit to earn a 5-4 shootout victory over the arch-rival USA. Hayley Wickenheiser scored the decisive goal.

Kyle Chipchura scored the winner into an empty net as the Americans pulled goalie Cory Schneider in a late bid for the two points, since a tie would not have sufficed.
