The National Hockey League handed out its hardware to the best players in the world in Las Vegas Wednesday night, with twelveย IHLC holders (including current holders Brent Burns and Aaron Ekblad) representing four countries taking home trophies.ย Canadian goalie Carey Price took home the top haul of the night, winning four trophies, including league MVP.
It wasย Montrรฉal goalie Price, who became the first netminder to be league MVP since fellow Canadienย Josรฉ Thรฉodore in 2002, also taking home the Vezina, Jennings and Lindsay Trophies, to cap a spectacular record-breaking season with the Habs, ending with a 1.96 GAA and .933 save percentage in a 44-win season. Five playersย (Benn, Burns, Dubnyk, Ekblad and Hudler) and Calgary Flames head coachย Bob Hartley celebrated the night withย their first individual NHL trophies of their careers.
There were, however, a few repeat winners crowned, with second titles awarded to Erik Karlsson as Norris Trophy winner for best defenceman, and Corey Crawford as Jennings Trophy co-winner for least goals conceded. Boston Bruin Patrice Bergeron captured his third Selke Trophy as top defensive forward, and a staggering fifth Rocket Richard Trophy for Alexander Ovechkin, as the Capitals sniper led the league in goals with 53 goals.
