๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Savannah Harmon Retires From Hockey At Age 30


American defender Savannah Harmon, a two-time World Champion and former Olympian, today confirmed her retirement from pro hockey at the age of 30, following her third PWHL season, and first full season, with the Toronto Sceptres.

A two-time NCAA champion with Clarkson University in 2017 and 2018, Harmon would make her pro debut with the Buffalo Beauts of the NWHL in 2018, joining the PWHPA the following year following both the formation of the Association, along with the NWHL’s rebranding into the PHF. After three seasons on the Dream Gap Tour with the PWHPA, playing for Buffalo, Minnesota and Team Harvey’s, Harmon was selected fifth overall in the inaugural 2023 PHWL Draft by Ottawa, and the second defender taken in the Draft behind Jocelyne Larocque. Ironically, a year later Harmon would be part of an early-season trade to Toronto for Larocque, where she would spend her final two seasons with the Sceptres. notching 24 points in 84 career PWHL games.

A Chicago-area native, Harmon debuted for Team USA at the inaugural Rivalry Series in 2019, returning again in the COVID-interrupted 2020 programme. Harmon would make her World Championship debut at the 2021 Worlds in Calgary, her first of five consecutive appearances, where she would medal in each tournament, winning two Gold (2023, 2025) and three Silver (2021, 2022, 2024) medals. Harmon would also capture a Silver medal in her lone Olympic appearance, at the 2022 Beijing Games, where she would put up her best international stat line, with seven points in seven games.

Over the course of her Team USA career, Harmon would capture the IHLC ten times between 2019 and 2025, starting at the first-ever Rivalry Series game in 2019, and ending on the run to the 2025 World Championship Gold Medal.
