Goals by Oscar Lindberg and Anton Lander in the shootout gave Sweden a 6-5 victory over Canada at HSBC Arena this afternoon and a bye to the semi-finals.
The result also forces Canada to the quarter-finals which will be played on 02 January in Buffalo. Sweden wonโt play again until the semi-finals on 3 January.

History was made at SAP Arena in Mannheim with a 4-1 win, thanks in part to the play of goalie Tobias Stephan and the incredible work of the teamโs top line of Ivo Rรผthemann-Martin Plรผss-Thomas Dรฉruns, all of whom had a goal and two assists (nine total points).

The Canadian women’s hockey team continues to score goals in bunches, showing defiance in the face of critics who have accused the defending Olympic champions of running up the score.
Canada scored in double digits for the third straight game Wednesday after a 13-1 thrashing of Sweden, the Silver medallist from the 2006 Turin Games. With the win, Canada finished on top of the Group A preliminary round standings.
