The Germans have made an impressive splash here in Plymouth, but in tonight’s semi-finals they weren’t up to the task of competing with the reigning champions.

The final score of 11-0 was suitable representation of what transpired tonight. Kendall Coyne had two goals and an assist for the U.S., while four teammates had a goal and two assists and Brianna Decker and Amanda Kessel each had three assists.

Nicole Hensley stopped all 18 shots from Canada in only her second career start in World Women’s Championship play, backstopping the host United States to a huge 2-0 win over Canada to start the tournament for both countries.

IIHF Hall Of Fame Announces 2017 Inductees

The IIHF has announced the Hall Of Fame Class of 2017, to be inducted at May’s World Championships in Cologne, Germany. All five players set to be inducted into the players category bring a swath of major international accomplishments (including many International Hockey Lineal Championships) to the Hall, as the IIHF is set to honour Joe Sakic, Saku Koivu, Teemu Selänne, Angela Ruggiero and Uwe Krupp.

The most decorated player in women’s hockey history today announced her retirement from professional hockey, with Hayley Wickenheiser stepping down from the CWHL’s Calgary Inferno and Team Canada, which she joined in 1994 at the age of 15.

NHL Outdoor Classics Feature Top IHLC Winners
