2015 Euro Hockey Challenge Schedule Confirmed

Due to the myriad of changes to this year’s Euro Hockey Tour, the Euro Hockey Challenge has been impacted as well, with only two legs in this year’s competition, rather than the usual three. The participants of the Euro Hockey Tour (Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czechia) will face off against four rising European squads (Germany, Switzerland, Slovakia and Norway) in a series of two-game challenges, giving the lower ranked squads the chance to compete against the top teams in Europe.

IHLC Team Profiles – 🇳🇴 Norway (Women’s)

🇳🇴 NORWAY (NOR) Women’s National Ice Hockey Team (1988-)
The Norway’s women’s squad has only contended for the IHLC a single time, a 12-0 loss to Canada at the 1994 World Championship. The Isbjørnene has failed to qualify for a World Championship since 1997, and have yet to play for Olympic Gold in women’s hockey.

🇳🇴 NORWAY (NOR) Men’s Junior National Ice Hockey Team (1978-)
Norway first joined the World Juniors scene in 1979, ping-ponging between the Top Division and lower pools in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. Norway remained in the lower divisions until promotion in 2005, where they have since returned again in 2010, 2013 and 2023, but have struggled in recent years to maintain any momentum in the Top Division.

🇳🇴 NORWAY (NOR) Men’s National Ice Hockey Team (1937-)
8 wins, 4 reigns, 11 games with IHLC – ranked 12th
IHLC last held 13 April 2013
Norway, playing international hockey since 1937, first competed for the IHLC at the 1950 World Championship in London, and failed to capture the title until nearly fifty years later, winning the IHLC from Germany in 1996. After a second reign in 1997, the Isbjørnene failed to compete on the top international level throughout the 2000s, only recently reemerging as a contender on the backs of NHL stars lacing up for Norge. Norway has won two more IHLC titles since 2010, competed for the IHLC as recently as the 2018 Olympics, and surely will continue to compete in coming years.
