IIHF Announces Hall Of Fame 2016 Class

The International Ice Hockey Federation announced their 2016 Hall Of Fame class, to be inducted during the 2016 World Championships in Russia. The class includes five players and two coaches from six different countries, including two posthumous inductions, that have held a myriad of World Championship, Olympic and World Cup medals, along with a number of International Hockey Lineal Championship titles.

As a result of their 3-0 win over Denmark, improving them to 4-0 at the Division I Group A tournament in Rouen, France, the Czech women’s team has secured the eighth and final spot at the 2016 Women’s World Championship next spring in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, taking the spot from the German squad that was relegated at this year’s Championship in Malmö, Sweden.

🇨🇦 Caroline Ouellette Retires From Canadian National Team

After making the Canadian roster for the 2015 World Championships only by virtue of an injury to Haley Irwin, decorated Olympian and World Champion Caroline Ouellette played her final game for Canada in their 7-5 Gold Medal loss to the United States, after confirming prior to the tournament that these World Championships would be her last time putting on the red and white.

🇨🇦 2016 IIHF Women’s World Championship Awarded To Kamloops

Hockey Canada today announced that Kamloops, British Columbia would host the 2016 IIHF Women’s World Championship in April 2016, after the IIHF had awarded Canada with the tournament previously. All games will take place at the Interior Savings Centre (host of the 2014 Four Nations Cup) and the McArthur Island Sports And Event Centre, with specific dates and schedule to follow at a later date.
