After nearly a full year without playing professional hockey, only with appearances captaining Team USA at the 2018 Olympics and a short stint in Boston shortly thereafter, Brian Gionta today announced in Buffalo that he would be retiring from hockey and joining the Sabres in a non-playing role, ending a nearly 20-year pro career at age 39.

IIHF Confirms 2022 Olympic Women’s Tournament Expanding To Ten Teams
